On my birthday last year, I announced that I would be going for therapy to improve my emotional and mental well-being. One year later, what was the impact of seeking professional help? Here's telling it like it is. #birthdayhopes #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthsg #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthawareness

"We cannot change the past, and certainly we cannot turn a blind eye to it, but we can modify the way we re-tell the story to ourselves, and this can be a step toward inner healing."
Last year, I scratched the surface of re-imagining and rewriting my childhood experiences as part of my foray into Schema therapy, and it kickstarted a new way of interpreting the past for better mental well-being. So, yes, absolutely on board with what the writer is saying!

I even used the topic at the mental health talks I have been invited to speak at. Values: Guiding you to better mental health Values. This is something I have been wanting to write about ever since I started learning more about its impact on mental health. Values. I'll be checking out Singapore’s first photo exhibition by persons living with a mental health conditions. Organised by Resilience Collective, I read some of the photographers' stories on the FB page and you can really feel the raw emotions. Would be interesting to see how they represent via photography. Due to limit on no. of pax, need to book preferred slots via www.resilience.org.sg/photostory/booking/
You know how they say if you want to start a new exercise or diet regime, that you should tell people about it, so that you'll be more compelled to stick to it? Ok, I'll do that so I won't keep getting distracted by shiny, new activities! What are your focus areas for 2021? Share in the comments below, and all the best to all of us!

Hello 2021! What shall I do this year, then? – Not A Pretty Picture
Hello 2021! What shall I do this year, then? Now that I have my own platform to capture my ramblings, I can force myself to pen down what I would like to focus on for the new year and make it public so I can be pressured to meet my goals. 😜 In all seriousness though, at the beginning of the year,...
2020 is coming to an end, and it might be surprising to hear me say that it was one of the best years of my life, but it was. It has everything to do with the proactive steps that I have taken in my mental health journey. There are many things that are crappy around us, but there are also many things we can do to better manage our mental health 🙂 2021 isn't going to be a magical start to a year of fresh beginnings, but I certainly wish everyone a Healthy, Balanced and Happy New Year ahead! Till my next post, take care, stay safe and peace out!

I haven't felt like writing the past month. I was planning to release a series of articles about Adverse Childhood Experiences and Emotional Neglect, but I kept struggling to finish them. Yes, it is year-end, yes, there is some good news recently, I am feeling hopeful, and I was inspired to write about a very important asset that many of you probably have been forced to rely on this year - Resilience 🙂 Here are 5 tried and tested psychology-backed tips to up your resilience game!
